It is a corrosion-resistant alloy metal whose main metal component is Ni-30Cu. The main components of the nickel-copper alloy produced in China are: Cu 27.00% ~ 29.00%, Fe 2.00% ~ 3.00%, Mn 1.20% ~ 1.50%, and the balance is Nickel.
Monel-type alloys include K Monel (Monel K 500), cast Monel and S Monel. K Monel alloy contains 3% aluminum, which can form a strengthening phase Ni-Al and can be aged and strengthened. Its strength is higher than that of ordinary Monel, so it is called high-strength Monel.
Casting Monel alloy and S-Monel alloy are alloys used to produce castings, although their compositions are different, they both contain higher silicon (2% to 5%) to improve their cast-ability and wear resistance.
Monel 400 is a solid solution alloy that can only be hardened by cold working. This nickel alloy has good corrosion resistance, weld-ability and high strength. It has a very low corrosion rate in fast-flowing brackish or seawater and has excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking in most fresh waters. In addition, it is particularly resistant to nitric acid when degassed and has some resistance to nitric acid at moderate temperatures and concentrations, but is rarely the first choice for these acids. Excellent resistance to neutral and alkaline salts and resistance to stress corrosion cracking caused by chlorides.
Monel alloy is suitable for use as structural materials for chemical equipment working in corrosive media such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, acetic acid or phosphoric acid with low concentrations. K Monel is used to make components with high strength requirements, such as marine propeller shafts, impellers and pump shafts.
